Format:
Groups are taught telehealth only.
Skills are taught in a two hour class. The first hour is homework review, the second is new material.
Skills are presented in three modules, each module starts with two weeks of mindfulness teaching and training.
The modules are: Distress Tolerance, Interpersonal Skills and Emotion Regulation.
Methods of teaching include didactics, modeling of skills by group leaders and in group practice.
The length of the class is either six months if you take the curriculum once, or one year if you repeat the curriculum a second time. Your therapist and your group leaders can help you decide if you need to repeat for full integration (this is more often the case than not).
This class will teach you the basic curriculum developed by Dr. Marsha Linehan as the evidence has shown it is best taught and delivered. This class is specifically for women identified clients so that the unique experiences of women can be easily talked about as we explore using DBT skills in the daily lives and relationships that are unique to people who identify as female.
Jess and I really enjoy teaching this class and have found that participants are able to address areas of their lives that otherwise do not come in in spaces that include people identifying as male.
