Cristina Mullen LICSW
I received my BS in Psychology from the University of Arizona in 1986 and my Masters in Social Work at Arizona State University in 1991. I have worked in the field of addiction, supported children in foster care, and finally began studying and providing DBT in 2002. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of Washington. (License # LW 00004112).
I am intensively trained in DBT and continued my training when hired at Harborview’s Outpatient DBT clinic which offered full DBT and was affiliated with the Behavioral Research and Training Center at the University of Washington.
While at Harborview Outpatient DBT Clinic I taught DBT Skills for over 10 years, sometimes several groups a week. I learned how to teach the skills first by observing more experienced teachers including Dr. Linehan for a year at her research clinic. The most satisfying element of my job is being a witness to the personal transformations wrought in the lives of participants as they learn as they are able to individualize the skills into their lives. The class environment can be both challenging and fun. As the lead teacher, I provide and environment that is emotionally safe and conducive to learning.
In addition to teaching DBT skills, I have a private practice in Columbia City. In my private practice I work with adults in individual therapy. I provide Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness based therapies and other evidence based treatment for anxiety disorders, depression and PTSD. I periodically run Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy for Depression Groups.
In my free time I enjoy gardening, walking in nature, yoga and meditation. I love being part of the Columbia City Community and spend much of my time and energy in this little community.
I am glad to offer a DBT skills group here.
